What Is the AATC?

The Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches (AATC) is one of Australia’s leading tennis coaching course providers. Since its founding, the AATC has grown into a globally recognised institution operating in Australia, Singapore, the UK, New Zealand, India, China, Malaysia and Thailand, with more than 2,000 coaches having gained certifications to date.
AATC courses are endorsed and supported by Tennis Australia, which means completing an AATC qualification gives coaches a credential that is recognised across the industry. For anyone serious about a career in tennis or pickleball coaching, AATC accreditation is a strong foundation to build on.
AATC Coaching Courses
Voyager Tennis is an authorised AATC course provider, delivering accredited coaching courses in NSW across two disciplines, tennis and pickleball. All courses are run at Voyager venues in Sydney by industry-leading presenters with high-level playing and coaching backgrounds.

AATC Development Coaching Course
Who It Is For
The AATC Development Coaching Course is suitable for coaches with little to no formal coaching experience right through to accomplished tennis professionals. If you are working with group sessions and want to deliver consistently higher quality classes, this is the course for you.
What the Course Covers
The Development Course has been specifically designed to help coaches deliver world-class group sessions for between two and eight students per court. Modules include:
- Designing and implementing quality lesson plans that improve student outcomes and make coaching more enjoyable
- Player warm-up guidelines to ensure students are physically prepared for every session
- Ball feeding fundamentals like basket positioning, technique, tempo, placement, voice projection and feedback
- Rally and live ball drill progressions and regressions for all levels, from red ball beginners to advanced juniors and adults
- Serving drills and activities suitable for all levels
- Competitive game formats for holiday camps and group classes
- Guidelines for effectively utilising assistant coaches in large classes
- Essential communication skills for managing players and parents of all ages
- Care, safety and legal and ethical responsibilities for coaches
Course Format and Dates
The Development Course runs across four consecutive Thursday mornings, 9:30am to 1:30pm, during the first four weeks of every school term. This staggered format allows coaches to practise and embed what they have learned between sessions, rather than trying to absorb everything in a single intensive block.

AATC Advanced Coaching Course
Who It Is For
The Advanced Coaching Course is designed for seasoned tennis professionals with multiple years of coaching experience who are ready to take their technical and tactical knowledge to the next level.
What the Course Covers
The Advanced Course goes deep on the technical and tactical teaching points that are essential for helping players improve quickly in both group classes and private lessons. Modules include:
- Beginner to intermediate singles and doubles tactical fundamentals
- Advanced singles tactical fundamentals – baseline rallying, net play, serving and returning
- Advanced doubles tactical fundamentals – court positioning, serve and return placement, and high-percentage attacking and defending options
- Drills and activities to improve players’ anticipation, shot preparation, strike zone and reading of play
- Technical fundamentals for all strokes – grips, swings and footwork customised for beginner, intermediate and advanced players
- Formats and structures for delivering effective private lessons
- Live stroke correction examples for the forehand, backhand, serve, volleys and overhead
- How to deliver holiday camps, including large group activities, lesson plans and supervision guidelines
- Guiding players on appropriate tennis equipment – racquets, strings, grips and footwear
Course Format and Dates
The Advanced Course runs across four consecutive Thursday mornings, 9:30am to 1:30pm, during weeks five to eight of every school term. Like the Development Course, it is delivered four times per year.

AATC Pickleball Level 1 Coaching Course
Who It Is For
The AATC Pickleball Level 1 Course is designed for coaches who want to build a solid foundation in pickleball coaching. Whether you are a tennis coach looking to add pickleball to your skill set or someone new to coaching who wants to start with pickleball, this is the right starting point.
What the Course Covers
The Pickleball Level 1 Course covers all the fundamentals you need to start coaching effectively, including:
- Rules and scoring
- Equipment knowledge
- Technical fundamentals
- Tactical fundamentals
- How to differentiate coaching for beginner, intermediate and advanced players
Course Format
The pickleball course runs as a single full-day practical session with on-court delivery, personalised feedback and a comprehensive course manual. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion including coaches’ insurance certification, plus AATC accreditation upon finishing.

Adam Feeney – Tennis Course Presenter
Adam Feeney is a former top-ranked world junior and ATP tennis professional who has competed in all four Grand Slams. With over 20 years of industry experience, Adam is regarded as one of Australia’s top learning facilitators and leads all AATC tennis course delivery in NSW. His playing background combined with his coaching expertise makes for a course experience that is both technically deep and immediately practical.
Gourav – Assistant AATC Tennis Coach
Gourav is Head Tennis Professional at Voyager Pennant Hills and holds AITA Level 3 and 4 qualifications, along with certifications from RPT Europe and US PTR. With over 11 years of teaching experience, he has played in Tennis Australia tournaments and represented Panjab University, while also coaching top Indian juniors and leading the Delhi University Women’s tennis team to national championship victory.
Ryan Henry – Pickleball Course Presenter
Ryan Henry is the 2023 Australian National Singles Pickleball Champion and a leading figure in the Australian pickleball coaching community.
