The Voyager Tennis McDonald College boys team were winners of the Australian Shools Championships held in Albury in 2018. As a result, the team represented Australia at the World School Championships held in Italy in June 2019 where they came 5th place.
Head Coach Luke Bourgeois said “It was an outstanding international experience for our team, competing in the World Championships in Italy against top juniors from around the world. Our boys showed they are one of the best high school teams in the world.”
In 2018, Voyager Tennis Academy was also nominated for the Most Outstanding Tennis Club in NSW. We just missed out on the award, but it was an honour to be selected as Finalist in recognition of the incredible work at our North Manly site.
With a number of Nationally ranked players in the program and more working their way through the Voyager Tennis pathway, we look forward to further achievements on this site.
Tennis Australia awarded Luke Bourgeois from Voyager Tennis Academy, with the 2017 Newcombe Medal for Coaching Excellence in Talent Development, for the Voyager programs at Sydney Olympic Park.
Luke graciously accepted the award at the annual, Australian Tennis Awards ceremony, in Melbourne.
The ceremony celebrates the year in tennis with legends of the past and greats today, and it was a privilege to be part of this prestigious event.
At the 2017 Sydney Tennis International event, Voyager Tennis Academy was also awarded 2017 Tennis School of the Year, in partnership with The McDonald College.
The Voyager Tennis Academy and The McDonald College program allows our elite tennis players the opportunity to further develop their tennis careers whilst completing their academic studies at one of Sydney’s top schools.
The program is proving highly successful, with over 40 program graduates currently in the United States on college tennis scholarships.

Voyager is grateful for the recognition of its work and these awards would not have been possible without the daily inspiration from our young players and dedicated families.
We also thank our Voyager coaches who go above and beyond to shape Australia’s players of tomorrow, and our partners for their ongoing support.
