AATC Coaching Courses

The Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches (AATC) is one of Australia’s leading tennis coaching course providers and operates in multiple countries including Singapore, The UK, New Zealand, India, China, Malaysia and Thailand with more than 2000 coaches gaining certifications to date.

Voyager Tennis is delivering AATC accredited coaching courses in NSW and offers a range of professional development opportunities for coaches of all levels and abilities.
The courses are endorsed and supported by Tennis Australia and have been designed for coaches who are looking to quickly enhance their skills as a tennis professional.

TENNIS

 

Courses include:

  • Live workshops which are spread over multiple weeks to provide the opportunity to practice and embed learning.
  • A detailed course manual which outlines all content covered throughout the course  so that you can refer back at any time.
  • On court testing and opportunities to try new drills with feedback provided by industry leaders.
  • Online quiz to reinforce areas of learning throughout the course.
  • Certificate of currency for coaches insurance to ensure the appropriate coverage is in place.
  • AATC Accreditation and qualification certificate.

Course Presenter
Adam Feeney is a former top ranked world junior and ATP tennis professional and has competed in all 4 grand slams. He has over 20 years industry experience and is among the top learning facilitators in Australia and will be leading the delivery of all AATC courses in NSW.

Gourav, assistant AATC coach and head tennis professional at Voyager Pennant Hills, boasts AITA level 3 and 4 qualifications, along with certifications from RPT Europe and US PTR. With over 11 years of teaching experience, he has played in Tennis Australia Tournaments and represented Panjab University, while coaching top Indian juniors and leading the Delhi University Women’s tennis team to victory in national championships.

Development Coaching Course
The AATC Development Coaching Course has been endorsed by Tennis Australia and is suitable for coaches with little experience right the way through to accomplished tennis professionals.

The course has been primarily designed to help coaches deliver world class group sessions for between 2 and 8 students per court with the following course modules:

  • Design and implementing quality lessons plans that increase student improvement and enhance the enjoyment of coaching.
  • Player warm up guidelines to ensure students are physically prepared for each session.
  • Ball feeding fundamentals including basket positioning, technique, tempo, placement, voice projection and feedback that ensure classes are run effectively and students are achieving success.
  • Rally and live ball drill progressions and regressions for all levels of students from red ball beginners to advanced juniors and adults.
  • Serving drills and activities for all levels of students from red ball beginners to advanced juniors and adults.
  • Competitive game formats and activities that can be used in holiday camps or for group coaching classes that ensure the finishing activity is the highlight of the session.
  • Guidelines for how to effectively utilise assistant coaches when running large classes.
  • Essential communication skills and techniques for handling players and parents of all ages and abilities.
  • Care and safety practices that every coach should be following to ensure the safety of their students.
  • Legal and ethical responsibilities that all coaches need to be aware of.

Advanced Coaching Course

The Advanced Coaching Course is designed for seasoned tennis professionals with multiple years coaching experience.

The content focuses on the delivery of all key teaching points that are essential for players improving quickly in group classes and private lessons with the following content provided throughout the course:

  • Beginner to intermediate singles and doubles tactical fundamentals.
  • Advanced level singles tactical fundamentals including baseline rallying, netplay, serving, returning.
  • Advanced level tactical fundamentals for doubles covering areas such as court positioning, serve and return placement and high percentage attacking and defending options from each part of the court.
  • Drills and activities to improve players anticipation, shot preparation, strike zone and reading of the play.
  • Technical fundamentals for all strokes that cover detailed insights into grips, swings and footwork and how to customise for beginner, intermediate and advanced level players.
  • Formats and structures for delivering effective private lessons that achieve outstanding results.
  • Live stroke correction examples for the forehand, backhand, serve, volleys and overhead that display to coaches how to analyse strokes and achieve fast improvements.
  • How to deliver holiday camps including activities for large groups, camp lesson plans, supervision guidelines and common safety issues to look out for.
  • Guiding all levels of players on the appropriate tennis equipment to use including racquets, strings, grips and footwear.

PICKLEBALL

 

Courses include:

  • 1 day of practical on-court sessions (choose from two available dates), where you can try new drills and receive personalised feedback to improve your game.
  • A comprehensive course manual covering all key concepts, drills, and techniques, allowing you to review and deepen your understanding of pickleball.
  • A Certificate of Completion, which includes the required coaches’ insurance certification for coverage.
  • AATC Accreditation and qualification certificate upon completion.

Course Presenter
Ryan Henry, 2023 Australian National Singles Pickleball Champion, is a leading figure in the Australian pickleball community. With extensive experience coaching players of all levels, Ryan’s sessions are designed to help you build a solid foundation and understanding of the game. Ryan will be leading all AATC pickleball courses in NSW.

AATC Pickleball Level 1 Course

Ryan Henry, 2023 National Singles Pickleball Winner will be delivering the course to those who are looking to learn the fundamentals of Pickleball Coaching.

The course modules include:
– Rules and scoring
– Equipment
– Technical fundamentals
– Tactical fundamentals
– The difference between teaching beginners, intermediate and advanced players and more!
