Pickleball Cup Sydney Returns This October

Sydney’s pickleball community will return to the courts this October as the Pickleball Cup Sydney gets ready for another weekend of competition at The Willis Recreation and Sport Centre in Chatswood.
Taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026, the tournament gives players the chance to put their doubles game to the test against others at a similar level. Women’s and Men’s Doubles will be played on Saturday, followed by Mixed Doubles on Sunday.
After previous Pickleball Cup events brought strong fields to Willoughby, October offers another opportunity to get back into tournament mode, find a partner and see how your game holds up when every point counts.
Find the Right Level of Competition
A good tournament should challenge players without making the experience feel out of reach.
That’s where the DUPR divisions come in.
Women’s Doubles includes divisions for 2.99 and below, 3.0–3.49 and 3.5+. Men’s Doubles runs across 3.49 and below, 3.5–3.99 and 4.0+, while Sunday’s Mixed Doubles ranges from 2.99 and below through to 4.0+.
This gives developing competitors room to test themselves while stronger players can expect opponents closer to their current standard.
Players need an active DUPR ID linked to their profile when registering. Tournament organisers may also review ratings and move teams between brackets when necessary to maintain appropriate competition.
sphere of a growing sport, the Pickleball Cup Sydney offers something for everyone.
Tournament Pickleball Feels Different
Regular social games are a great place to work on shots and enjoy time on court. Tournament play adds something different.
Points suddenly carry more weight. Partnerships are tested when a game gets tight. Shot selection becomes more deliberate, and maintaining composure can matter as much as hitting a winner.
The Pickleball Cup gives players a chance to experience that environment without needing to enter an elite-level competition.
Each event guarantees a minimum of three games, so entering isn’t about travelling to the venue for a single match. Players will have time on court to settle into the competition and adjust as the event progresses. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded within each bracket.
Bring the Right Partner
Doubles tournaments have a way of showing how well two players really understand each other.
A strong partnership isn’t necessarily the pair with the hardest shots. Knowing who takes the middle ball, communicating early and recognising when your partner needs support can make an enormous difference once the pressure builds.
The October event also gives players the option of competing twice. A player could enter one gendered doubles event and one Mixed Doubles event, with a maximum of two events per player.
That leaves plenty of pickleball to be played across the weekend.
How the Weekend Will Run
The tournament begins with Women’s and Men’s Doubles on Saturday 24 October, before Mixed Doubles takes over on Sunday 25 October.
Each event is expected to run for approximately four hours, although exact start times are still to be confirmed. Players should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled event for registration.
Competition starts with round-robin play before progressing to the final rounds. Pools with five teams play one game to 15, while pools with six or more teams play one game to 11. In multi-pool events, the top two teams from each pool advance to the finals. Semi-finals and medal matches are played as one game to 15.
Ready for Another Pickleball Cup?
Registration is already open, with 189 players registered when the tournament page was checked on 20 September. Entry costs $60 per player, with an additional event costing $30.
Registration is scheduled to close at 11:55 pm AEST on 18 October 2026, although entries may close earlier if the tournament reaches capacity.
That makes registering early worthwhile, particularly for players who already know their partner and division.
The Pickleball Cup Sydney isn’t only another chance to compete. It’s a weekend to find out where your game stands, play against different opponents and share the court with Sydney’s growing pickleball community.
