Pickleball Cup Returns to Tweed Coast

The Pickleball Cup is heading back to Tweed Heads, and this time there is even more pickleball on the program.

On 31 October and 1 November 2026, players from across the region will return to Voyager Tennis & Pickleball – Tweed Heads for two days of competition. Women’s and Men’s Doubles will open the weekend on Saturday before Mixed Doubles and Gendered Singles take over on Sunday.

For players who joined the Pickleball Cup when it first visited Tweed Heads earlier this year, the setting will be familiar. The October edition adds another way to compete, with Singles joining the doubles program.

Pick Your Challenge for the Weekend

Saturday belongs to the doubles teams.

Women’s and Men’s Doubles will be played across the opening day, giving established partners and new pairings a chance to see how their game holds up in tournament conditions.

Sunday changes the dynamic. Mixed Doubles starts the day before the focus moves to Gendered Singles.

The addition of Singles gives players a very different test. There is no partner covering the other side of the court, which puts more emphasis on movement, shot selection and finding a way through difficult points on your own.

Players who want a busy weekend can enter as many as three events, provided each entry is from a different category. That could mean competing in Gendered Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Singles across the two days.

Enough Court Time to Settle Into the Tournament

A difficult opening match doesn’t have to mean the end of your event.

Every player is guaranteed at least three games in each event entered. Competition begins with round-robin play, with the top two teams from each pool progressing to the finals.

Smaller pools of five teams or fewer play games to 15, while pools of six or more play to 11. Semi-finals and medal matches are played to 15.

That gives competitors time to adjust to different opponents as the event develops. A slow first game can be followed by a much stronger second or third, while players who find their rhythm early have to maintain it as the pressure increases.

Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place in each bracket.

Tournament Play Has a Different Feel

Most players know what their game feels like against familiar opponents.

Tournament weekends remove some of that familiarity.

You may face a partnership you’ve never seen before or a singles opponent whose style forces you to change your usual approach. There is less certainty about what the next rally will look like, which is part of what makes competition enjoyable.

The Pickleball Cup is open to players across different competition levels, so the weekend isn’t reserved for highly experienced tournament players.

For someone considering their first event, Tweed Heads can be a chance to experience structured competition without needing to commit to a long tournament schedule. For returning competitors, it is another opportunity to put recent training into a match environment.

Before You Register

Players need an active DUPR ID linked to their profile and a free Pickleball.com account to complete registration.

Initial registration is $50, with each additional event costing $30. Voyager members can receive 20% off the initial registration fee by contacting the tournament for a discount code.

Registration is scheduled to close at 11:55 pm AEST on 26 October 2026, although entries may close earlier if capacity is reached.

Start times have not yet been confirmed, so registered players should keep an eye on tournament communications as the weekend approaches.

Back to Tweed Heads

The return of the Pickleball Cup gives the Tweed Coast community another weekend to compete close to home, while players travelling from surrounding areas have a reason to make the trip.

Some will arrive with a doubles partner and one event in mind. Others will spend both days moving between doubles, mixed and singles competition.

Either way, there should be plenty of time on court.
