2023 Highlights:
Community:
Making a difference in our community! Donating / raising over $30k for charities and causes, including supporting over 40 schools and charities inlcuding:
- Community Donations: Supported over 34 schools and charities, donating private coaching lessons, holiday camps, and other Voyager services.
- Rally for Ryde Fundraiser: Ran a Rally for Ryde community event with the Salvation Army to provide meals, safe spaces, and domestic violence prevention programs in Ryde.
- Junior Team Tennis League Sponsorship: Partnered with UFIT Health & Fitness to sponsor lucky draw prizes at the Junior Team Tennis League 2023 Season 2 ceremony.
- Lions Australia Charity Pickleball Event: Sponsored a charity pickleball event with Lions Club of Sydney Inner West, supporting the community and providing free resources and coaching.
- Major Tennis Fundraiser:Â Organised a successful tennis fundraiser at Willis Park, bringing the tennis community together to support the O’Neil family.
- Trek for Yvette fundraiser: Voyager dedicated all entry proceeds from the Ryde doubles tournament in Term 2 to a fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research in honor of Yvette Brumley, a local tennis enthusiast.
Inclusion:
Fostering inclusion with 5,000 tennis & pickleball players on the court, welcoming diverse multicultural groups, LGBTQI+ communities, disabled players and employees, and actively promoting gender equality in tennis.Â
- Supporting World Pride: Hosted the Tennis Sydney WorldPride Open at Rockdale Tennis, contributing to a safe and inclusive environment for the LGBTQI+ community.
- Coaching Scholarship for Diversity: Offering a full female coach scholarship for the Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches course to promote diversity within the tennis industry.
- Girls in Tennis Initiative: Partnered with Tennis NSW to create welcoming spaces for girls through programs such as Diverse Girls in Tennis and #NoLimits Girls Squads.
- Special Olympics NSW Tournament: Partnered with the Special Olympics NSW to host and coordinate the 2023 tournament, promoting inclusive and competitive tennis.
- NOVA Employment Partnership: Developed a successful partnership with NOVA Employment, providing job opportunities and training for individuals with disabilities.
Environment:
Taking strides towards a greener future! Our initiatives involve offsetting 150 tonnes of CO2-e and actively pursuing actions that reduce our environmental footprint.
Programs:
- Carbon Neutrality and Greenfleet Partnership: Voyager is proud to be a carbon-neutral tennis operator, contributing to Greenfleet’s efforts in planting over 10 million trees in Australia and New Zealand.
- Recycling Bins: We are in the process of rolling out recycling bins at venues and ensuring 100% waste recycling at each site with our partner Bingo.
- Installation of Automatic Timers: Implemented timers on bathroom lights and taps in all sites that automatically turn off.
- LED lights: We have proactively installed LED court lighting at our venues equating to more than 75Â environmentally friendly lit courts . Our goal is for 100% of managed facilities to use energy efficient LED lights by the end of 2024.
- Game On Recycling program: We have partnered with Game On Recycling to address the environmental concern of tennis balls ending up in landfills or in our waterways, and eventually into the ocean. With more than 10,000 coaching balls used per term at Voyager, the recycling program has a big impact.
- Shoes for Planet Earth: We support the charity Shoes for Planet Earth by collecting unwanted sports shoes that are in good condition.
